
Chris Sutton is a highly experienced Management Consultant, Interim Executive, Trustee and Coach.
Chris works with clients to design and implement new Strategies, Target Operating Models, Business Process and Finance Transformation. He also works for Not for Profit clients on strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, fund raising, finance and governance.
Chris brings 13 years experience in Big 4 management consultancy, followed by 15 years as global vice president in IT and Business Process Services. This translates into incisive problem solving and effective execution. He founded Sutton Impact at the start of 2016.
Well-designed and properly implemented, effective strategies, operating models and business processes serve as enablers to growth as well as operational efficiency and improved compliance. Chris’ experience extends across a wide spectrum of business functions, ranging from the digital transformation of enterprise processes which seamlessly connect customers, employees, partners and suppliers, to the design and implementation of Finance and HR shared services.
Chris has achieved multiple success in leading £multi-million client programmes, combining strong analytic and change management skills. He also operates effectively as a solo consultant or in small teams, with a “hands-on” approach to solving business problems.
His sector experience in IT and Business Process Services enables him to work effectively across multiple industries. He has specialist expertise in Financial Services, Business Services, Not-for-Profits, International Development and In / Outsourcing.
While retaining the skills and experiences of commercial sector consultancy, Chris now focuses on consulting to the Humanitarian Relief, International Development and Social Justice sectors, across which he has over 20 clients who can provide case studies and references.
Chris is also an accomplished speaker / trainer at business meetings, training events and conferences, helping audiences to connect with business transformation, consulting, finance and technology topics. He is a Visiting Lecturer at Bayes Business School in London where he has taught consulting skills to postgraduate students. He is a CMI assessor for candidates for the Chartered Management Consultant accreditation. He is also a Programmes Director for the Centre for Management Consulting Excellence.
Once or twice a year Chris does a month’s pro-bono consulting with charities and NGOs in developing countries, typically helping to implement effective finance processes and systems. He is a trustee of four UK charities, with strong expertise in strategic planning, fund-raising, finance, governance, monitoring and evaluation.
As a member of the Worshipful Company of Management Consultants in the City of London, Chris enjoys doing occasional executive coaching, mentoring and pro-bono consultancy for UK charities. Chris served as Master of the WCOMC from October 2022 – October 2023.
Chris also serves of chair of the Board of Trustees of the international development charity All We Can (and previously also as chair of Y Care International until its demerger) and as chair of Prisons Week. He served for 10 years as chair of the Kent and Sharpshooters Yeomanry Museum Trust, and continues there as a trustee. From 2019-23 Chris was a trustee and treasurer of The Heritage Alliance.
Chris is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Chartered Management Consultant, a Member of the Institute of Interim Management, and a Six Sigma Black Belt. He holds an MA from the University of Oxford.
